Benefits of Concrete Polishing

Polished concrete is cost effective, long lasting, and low maintenance.

Large commercial, manufacturing, or industrial projects require dust free environments for their products. Eco Shine Concrete is equipped to clean and provide a polished floor finish for large open areas at commercial and industrial facilities at a substantial cost saving. Whether it is a new construction project or the rehabilitation of an existing industrial facility, Eco Shine Concrete offers cleaning and polishing concrete for commercial, manufacturing, industrial, institutional and residential customers nationwide.

Low Maintenance Cost

Most floor systems, including tile and linoleum, require aggressive scrubbing to maintain a clean environment and nice appearance. Polished concrete surfaces are tightly compacted, reducing stains, and do not require any waxing or stripping to maintain the sheen. Polished concrete maintenance care can typically be with water or a neutral pH cleaners. It requires no stripping or waxing. Just dry or wet mop as needed with clean water and buff as needed. Polished concrete care can include being buffed with ordinary floor buffing pad or a higher shine polished concrete can be burnished with a high speed burnisher.

Health Benefits

For anyone with asthma or other respiratory illnesses, polished concrete is an excellent flooring choice because it will not mold or mildew and does not release VOC’s.

Cost-Effective

Polished concrete will reduce energy and maintenance costs significantly through reflectivity and ambient lighting, reduction in upkeep, and reduced tire wear.

Improved Reflectivity &
Ambient Lighting

The reflective properties of a polished concrete floor increase the lighting in facilities. Increased ambient lighting will reduce the energy bill as well as look beautiful. Studies have shown that better lighted work places are more productive work places.

LEED Friendly

Polished concrete utilizes existing concrete surfaces and eliminates additional materials such as coverings/coatings in a step towards sustainable building. Polished concrete typically contains no noticeable VOC’s, making it friendly for any U.S. Green Building Council LEED project.

Increased Slip Resistance

Polished concrete, though quite shiny, does not create a slippery floor. In fact, the benefits of mechanically grinding and flattening the floor do not significantly change the coefficient of friction when compared to ordinary concrete. Global Syn-Tek's polished concrete meets or exceeds the wet SCOF definition standards for high traction floors.

Reduced Floor Repairs

As concrete ages, surface stress, delamination, curled cold joints, and other problems can arise. Mechanically grinding the floor will remove the top surface of the old concrete and densifying and polishing will then strengthen it; increasing its impact and abrasion resistance.

Elimination of Dust

In ordinary unpolished concrete, tiny particles of dust are created when the weaker portions of the concrete surface deteriorates. Our polishing process removes this weaker layer and then hardens the other calcium hydroxide in the concrete by the application of Bomanite’s Stabilzer Pro lithium silicate densifier.
